Machine translation post-editing

Machine speed, with a defined human review.

MTPE means a human specialist edits machine-translated text. The right level depends on your content, the quality of the machine output and the consequences of an error. We assess suitability before production.

Discuss your project

Light MTPE: usable meaning

Light post-editing focuses on correcting major meaning errors, omissions and misleading wording so the text meets an agreed comprehension purpose. Some awkward style may remain. It is often considered for internal, lower-risk content rather than polished public copy.

Full MTPE: a publication brief

Full post-editing addresses accuracy, terminology, grammar, consistency and style toward an agreed quality target. It does not automatically include independent revision, layout or regulatory acceptance; those requirements belong in the quote.

Suitability before savings

Poor machine output can take longer to repair than to translate afresh. We review a sample and may recommend human translation for ambiguous, highly creative or sensitive content. Pricing and schedules depend on the actual material, not an assumed universal discount.

Data handling is part of the decision

Before any source is sent to a machine translation provider, the provider, data permissions and workflow must be agreed. Do not place confidential material in an unapproved public tool. Provider retention and processing terms must be checked for the specific project.
